Synopsis

This course is devoted to Environmental Impact Assessment and attempt to develop an Ecosystem-Based approach of EIA, in order to assess Impact on Coastal Marine Environment, Consider Mitigation and Conservation.

First Week :
- Introduction to EIA
- Introduction to Decision Statistics
- Introduction to Modelling Hydro-Sedimentary Dynamics
- Introduction to Conservation
Second Week (with professionals in EIA) :
- Project definition
- Modelling with Delft-3D
- Baseline and Scoping
- Measuring Baseline and Conducting Surveys
Third Week (with professionals in EIA and Conservation) :
- Conservation, restoration and management plan definition in MPA
- Prediction and management reporting for EIA
- Impact assessment per se and legal issues
- Mitigation, compensation and mangement measures

Aims

The goal is to learn how to assess from a practical point of view, state of the marine environment, impact of project implementation, impact of human activities, and mitigation and conservation measures that can be taken. Emphasize is done on professional practice
